What is the SCPTA?
The South Carolina Permit Technician Association is a non-profit organization that was formed to support Permit Technicians by providing training and education for building codes, state license requirements, and other topics relevant to the permit technician profession.
About Us
The association is a newly formed chapter with statewide memberships. It is governed by officers elected by the members of the association. There is a representative from each region within the state including Coastal, Central, Upstate, and Tri-County.
Meetings are held three times a year in addition to the annual meeting, which at this time is held in May in conjunction with the Building Officials Association of South Carolina.
Our Goals and Objectives
The sole purpose of the association is to educate members and the public about building safety. We will strive to encourage certifications of Permit Technicians, offer quality educational sessions, and encourage the application of this knowledge and skills for the benefit of the community. We will continue to be contributing members of the International Code Council, to pursue uniformity in code interpretations, administration and enforcement; promote the adoption of codes published and assist in the development and promotion of uniform regulations pertaining to building construction.
Goals for Achievement - We, as a chapter, will work diligently to promote the value and recognition of Permit Technicians statewide. We will strive as a group to enhance communications among members from different areas within the chapter. Our association will hold regular meetings with training programs and informative round table discussions. As a group, we will share our knowledge of practices and procedures in regard to administrative techniques involved in our professions.
Memberships - As a chapter, we shall seek members to actively take part in chapter operations and encourage feedback and participation in various functions within the organization. We will promote a team player atmosphere to aid in retention of current members, attract new members, and instill an overall unity among all.
